Aging Ahead is always looking for dependable Missouri SHIP volunteers who want to help older adults in the community. You would receive training to become a certified counselor, assisting people on a one-to-one basis to understand Medicare healthcare benefits, find the right plan and help them check for savings on Medicare costs. When you are a Missouri SHIP counselor, you help in different ways. Some counselors prefer to help over the phone or using teleconferencing apps like Zoom. Others prefer to help by meeting in person, such as at a public library.

Aging Ahead's CHOICE program is a unique model of creating senior center communities within the places where older adults already congregate. This volunteer opportunity is based at the Edward Jones YMCA in Maryland Heights. A CHOICE Volunteer assists Aging Ahead staff with program operations, greets participants and creates a welcoming atmosphere, socializes and engages in activities with participants (you're welcome to bring activities, games, or crafts to share), assists with lunch distribution (bonus - if you are 60 or over, you qualify for lunch yourself!) and helps with clean up after the program is over. It's a casual and fun volunteer position. We are looking for volunteers for Mondays and Wednesdays from around 10 am to 1 pm.
