Safeguard the ecological health, scenic beauty and cultural heritage of the Rivanna River and its Watershed in Central Virginia.
The Rivanna Conservation Society is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to safeguarding the ecological, scenic, recreational, and historic resources of the Rivanna River and its tributaries for the benefit of the community and generations that will follow. We sponsor events and activities throughout the watershed, including river paddles, riverbank clean-ups, public education forums, citizen involvement programs, teacher and student training events, along with assuring a continuous dialogue with locally-elected officials designed to keep the health and protection of the Rivanna River at the forefront of our community's environmental agenda.
Our Board of Directors and membership is comprised of citizen volunteers who give up their time and talents for the good of the Rivanna. RCS is funded by membership contributions, personal donations, and corporate and government grants. Our office of support staff is located on the Historic Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, Virginia.
