Mission Statement
Today, Peace Action works for global nuclear disarmament, ratification of a comprehensive nuclear test ban treaty, an end to the proliferation of nuclear and conventional weapons, a reduced military budget, economic conversion and investment in community needs, and alternatives to war and violence: Peace Action?s New Foreign Policy calls for three steps to a safer world:
1. Support Human Rights and Democracy 2. Reduce the Threat from Weapons of Mass Destruction 3. Cooperate with the World Community
These goals are pursued through public education, advocacy, and lobbying.
Description
Through Peace Action you have the opportunity to make a difference locally and nationally in our political climate. Through events, legislative action, and education you are given the chance to work with an organization that gives voice and power to your politics.
It is vital right now to let our legislators know we are watching, we care, and that they are still working for us, the people. From talking to and educating high school students about what the military doesn't say you when they are recruiting, to creating events, to producing our newsletter, working on legislative advocacy, making phone calls, office work, and much more, Peace Action has something for every type of volunteer.
