Mission Statement

Founded in 1972, VIP is a unique mentoring program which combines the humanitarian goal of salvaging lives with the social and economic benefits of building better and safer communities.

Description

VIP recruits attorneys to mentor men and women on parole from correctional facilities and prisons. VIP mentors maintain weekly contact and spend between three to five hours a month on activities of mutual interest.

VIP's volunteer attorney mentors double a parolee's chance of success. Nine out of ten VIP mentees remain essentially crime free while working with a mentor. Three out of every four completed mentorships provide one year or more of progress toward educational, work and family goals.

VIP saves taxpayers millions of dollars in reduced imprisionment costs.
