Mission Statement

To provide a community-based, community-supported, economically viable and consumer-oriented, quality transportation service for seniors and adults with visual impairment.

Description

ITNRacineCounty, Inc. (Independent Transportation Network TM) is a non-profit organization offering transportation options and solutions for Racine County seniors (55+) and those who are visually impaired.

We are responding to the ever increasing need for affordable and convenient transportation by doing what no other volunteer driver program or public transit system can do - replicate the feeling of personal car ownership by giving rides in private vehicles, 24 hours per day, any day, for any reason.

Riders become dues paying members of ITNRacineCounty and set up pre-paid Personal Transportation Accounts TM to pay for their rides - no need to worry about carrying cash or tipping a driver! Fees are directly debited out of the pre-funded Transportation Account. Such a deal! Riders pay only about half of the true cost of the ride; ITN’s community fundraising efforts and contributions by local sponsors make up the difference to keep rides affordable.

Seniors can comfortably surrender their keys (all or part of the time) without surrendering their mobility and independence. They maintain a good quality of life, keep friendships, participate in the community, take responsibility for their own appointments, go shopping just for fun, and no longer feel like a burden to friends and family members. Family members don’t have to take time away from their jobs. They have peace of mind knowing their loved ones are comfortably and safely getting not only where they have to go, but to where they wantto go as well!
