Mission Statement

Our mission: Be a leading professional theatre in the region by producing a balance of classics and contemporary plays and by serving as a primary cultural and arts-in-education resource for Middle Tennessee.

Description

Now in its 23rd season, Tennessee Rep in 2007-2008 will produce Arthur Miller's The Crucible (Oct. 4-13), It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play by Joe Landry based on Frank Capra's movie classic (Nov. 29-Dec. 22), Edward Albee's The Goat or, Who Is Sylvia? (Notes Toward a Definition of Tragedy) (Jan. 31-Feb. 16), Doubt by John Patrick Shanley (March 13-29), and The Underpants by Steve Martin (May 1-17). Also, the professional company will produce a staged reading of a new work, "Clara's Hands," by David Alford, recipient of the 2007 Martha River Ingram Artist-in-Residence: New Work for the Theatre Fellowship (Nov. 1-3). Approximately four dozen education and outreach activities are offered each season, including LookIns, TalkBacks, TENNESSEE REP Unclassified, Meet and Greet the Actors, InsideOut of the Lunch Box, and other special events with community partners like the First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt University.
