Mission Statement

The mission of the UCare Skyway Senior Center is to provide a safe, friendly, and comfortable place for people age 50 and over to gather in downtown Minneapolis to participate in a variety of activities such as physical fitness, health and wellness, learning opportunities and socialization events. The Center also connects seniors to community resources and community service opportunities. The Center is a warm, welcoming place where seniors can meet and socialize with other seniors to keep from isolation. Center visitors enjoy free access to the internet, refreshments and engage in enrichment programs that promote cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Description

Open since 2001, the UCare Skyway Senior Center provides a beautiful 2,000 square foot gathering place for older adults where they can socialize, connect to community resources, exercise, take a class, use a computer, read, relax, and enjoy conversation over a cup of coffee.

With significant funding from UCare, the City of Minneapolis operates the senior center through the Department of Health and Family Support. Ryan Companies donates the space and furnishings, and financial support comes from several hundred individual donors, neighborhood associations, foundations and corporations.
