Mission Statement
The mission of Boyd Hill Nature Preserve (BHNP) is to preserve, protect, maintain, and promote the preserve and its native wildlife and plants for the enjoyment and education of the community.
Description
In the midst of Florida's most densely populated county, Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is a precious oasis. Enjoy the beauty of 245 acres of unspoiled land with over three miles of trails and boardwalks that meander through the hardwood hammocks, sand pine scrub, pine flatwoods, willow marsh and Lake Maggiore shoreline. Experience alligators drifting along the lake, the rhythmic buzz of cicadas, fluttering butterflies and bursts of wildflowers.
Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail, and is a great place to enjoy a variety of birds including eagles, shore birds, and migratory birds. The Lake Maggiore Environmental Education Center has displays on native plants and animals, exhibits on a variety of topics and special programs for all ages. The aviary houses several permanently injured birds of prey. Tram tours are offered daily.
