Mission Statement

The Tiny Miracles Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping families with premature infants in and around Fairfield County, Connecticut. We know from personal experience that the premature birth of a child can be a shocking, isolating and frightening experience for many families. Although area hospitals are able to meet most premature infants' medical needs, the emotional and other needs of the family during this fragile time often go largely unsupported. The Tiny Miracles Foundation seeks to fill this void by providing support, information, services and supplies to the families of premature infants regardless of race, religion or national origin, during and immediately following their hospital stay.

Description

Founded in 2004 by two local mothers of severely premature twins, The Tiny Miracles Foundation offers vital support to families facing the crisis of a premature birth. Both of these mothers felt terrified and isolated as they rode the emotional "preemie roller coaster" coping with their fragile babies’ tremendous medical complications and illnesses. While the hospitals provided excellent medical care, the mothers found very little emotional or practical support geared toward helping families with premature babies. From these mothers’ difficult experiences came the birth of TTMF. Through their network of other preemie mothers they had met during their NICU journeys, they created our organization to ensure that no parent of a baby born too early need to face the crisis of a premature birth alone.

Today, The Tiny Miracles Foundation assists over 1,200 local families per year throughout Fairfield County through programs at our four partner hospitals in Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, and Danbury and services to the community at large. These services are delivered by our over one hundred dedicated volunteers and a small support staff. Support provided by TTMF volunteers who have personally experienced the premature birth of a baby, the complications that arise, the challenges families face, and in sad cases, the loss of a precious tiny miracle, is invaluable to these families and is one of the many things that makes TTMF so special.

TTMF’s Board of Directors is comprised of parents of children born prematurely who possess a diversity of expertise in areas such as business, investments, law, risk management, sales, marketing, public relations, web development, fundraising, philanthropy, education and public service. Our staff includes three part-time employees: an executive director who oversees our programming and development, an office manager who assists with office administration, volunteer and program coordination, and a bookkeeper/database manager who performs daily accounting functions and manages our database of clients, donors, volunteers, medical professionals and other information.
