Mission Statement
Literacy Volunteers - Englewood Library offers volunteer tutor training and tutoring services to adults, in one-on-one and small group classes, in Basic Literacy (BL) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
We stress a learner-centered philosophy, focusing on the needs and goals of the learners as they acquire the language and skills relevant to their personal needs and goals (survival skills).
Our approach to teaching is collaborative and participatory; learner input and active learning is essential for tutors to tailor instruction according to learner needs.
Instruction is free to students.
