The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizin the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Description

The Red Cross trains volunteers to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Our Disaster Services department responds to local and national disasters. These can range from a large-scale hurricane to a smaller house fire. The Red Cross also teaches health and safety clases to ready people in the face of a medical emergency. In addition, the Red Cross also provides services to military members and their families.
