Mission Statement
Our Vision
Is to see a world in which the less privileged persons gain the skills they need to lift their families, their countries, and themselves out of poverty. We believe that through education, even the most impoverished people in the world have the ability to improve their own lives.
Description
We live in a world of abundance, yet millions of children in our world suffer from lack of food, health care, neglect and abuse. Among all children, the children of Africa suffer most.
The challenges facing the children of Africa are many. Thirty thousand babies every year are born HIV positive; diseases such as malaria, polio, respiratory infections and diarrhea are the reasons that most children die under five years of age.
In Africa, a child dies every 10 seconds from malaria.
Surviving this, 34% of children are required to perform child labor. Older siblings or grand parents care for over 900,000 children that were orphaned by AIDS in 2005. Resources, such as safe drinking water, are scarce and ordinary sanitation is practically non-existent. Families survive on an average of $600 a year.
Sherman Healthcare Foundation (SHF) is working hard to make a difference for these children.
