Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The AmeriCorps Library Community Technology Initiative strives to bridge the digital divide by assisting teens, adults, and seniors with learning how to use computers, access technological resources, and strengthening our communities by fostering a spirit of volunteerism and service to others. AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs that engage more than 75,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment.
You and your fellow team members will help inform and recruit the target population to participate in the AmeriCorps Library Community Technology Initiative project. You will conduct small class and provide one-on-one tutoring in computer basics, use of email, the Internet, resume writing, use of Library resources for a job search and other topics. You may provide specialized assistance to teens on using technology for school success or to senior citizens on researching health, retirement issues or other relevant topics. You will help the Library identify and recruit volunteers to assist as tutors and teachers with this project.
