In the spirit of service, not self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.

Description

The American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization. The Auxiliary enjoys nearly 800,000 members organized in more than 9,000 communities nationwide, with approximately 9,00 members organized in 118 local Units within the State of Maine. The beneficiaries of ALA programs include disabled, hospitalized, and homeless veterans; families of military service members deployed to conflict zones; community members across the nation in which Auxiliary units conduct community service projects daily; and our own volunteers and their husbands, parents, siblings, children and other relatives who have served our great nation.
