Mission Statement

Emma's Place (part of Emma Norton Services) fosters stability and personal growth for women and families who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless, by providing affordable, secure housing along with a sense of community and innovative support services.

Description

Emma's Place provides permanent affordable housing for homeless single-parent families with three or more children. Last year, Emma’s Place served 21 women, two men and 105 children. All were low income and homeless, 68% had mental illness and 30% had chemical dependency issues, while 30% had both MI/CD issues. Of those residents that left Emma’s Place during the year, 80% moved into more independent living situations. After school tutoring and summer programming is provided in partnership with the school district and volunteers. Emma’s Place has a strong collaborative partnership with Independent School District 622, especially with Webster Elementary and John Glenn middle school and with Hamline University.
