Mission Statement

Mission statement: "Connecting People to Resources and Opportunities." 4People is an Internet based Information & Referral database that started in 1997 as the result of a lengthy, well organized process conducted by Public Health officials in Chelan and Douglas Counties The RECA Foundation joined the 4People organization in 2004 and expanded the services to all 19 counties in eastern Washington and the bordering counties of Oregon and Idaho. The 4,200 plus listings cover a broad range of services including commercial, government, and non-profit resources - with over 900 in Benton County and nearly 850 in Franklin County

Description

4People is powered by Tapestry, the very same database software recently adopted by "CAN.org is an unprecedented, multi-organizational partnership among some of the nation's leading non-profit disaster relief organizations.", including 9/11 United Services Group, American Red Cross, National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, safehorizon, The Salvation Army, and the National United Way. CAN is just beginning, with pilot projects taking shape in The District of Columbia, New York, Oklahoma City, San Francisco, Seattle, and most recently in New Orleans in response to hurricane Katrina. See can.org for details. Eastern Washington and surrounding counties are ready now. The 4People database is fully populated. The Comprehensive Case Management system is being adopted by regional homeless committees, health care alliances, and is available for other non-profit agencies to suit their needs in a confidential, secure, online environment. 4People is administered by an all volunteer working board of directors supported by other volunteers including Worksource trainees and VISTAs (Volunteers in Service to America).
