About Mountain Humane
Mountain Humane, the first "no kill" shelter in Idaho, promotes companion animal welfare by providing temporary shelter for homeless animals, adopting them to welcoming homes and reducing animal abuse, neglect and overpopulation through community outreach and spay/neuter services. Now celebrating its 50th year of operation, Mountain Humane is funded almost entirely by private donations.
In 2020, more than 1,800 animals received vital services from Mountain Humane. These services included 511 animal adoptions and 1,067 Blaine County pets spayed or neutered at our Veterinary Clinic. Our Paws for Hunger pet food bank served 457 food-insecure families with 954 bags of pet food, and over 400 pets received behavior support on-site, off-site, and on the phone.
