Mission Statement

The FAME Program (formerly called Foster Youth Alumni services) aims to advance knowledge about the foster care experience before college, during a higher education experience, and after college. We want to ensure that students are informed of all the resources afforded to them as they contemplate pursuing a college degree, during their collegiate experience on Michigan State University's (MSU) campus, and during their transition to becoming MSU alumni.

Description

The FAME Program is a part of The Michigan State University School of Social Work. It was founded in the 2007-2008 school year to address the needs of foster youth alumni and students in similar circumstances. Any student who indicates that they are independent on their FAFSA is invited to seek resources in our program but students who seek our services who may need additional support for related reasons are not turned away.

While help students in many ways including finals week care packages, helping them find resources where they can access financial aid or other services, the COACH Program, and the mentoring program. Our website provides more thorough descriptions of these services.
