Mission Statement

The San Francisco Women's Film Festival (SFWFF) mission is to honor, showcase and facilitate the creation of films that are directed or co-directed by women. We achieve our mission by supporting, promoting, exhibiting and honoring the achievements and contributions of women in the world of cinema.

Description

SFWFF reaches, inspires, and strengthens thousands of community members and film lovers with the work of underrepresented female voices around the world throughout the year. SFWFF engages a diverse audience by offering a variety of free to low-cost screenings and educational programs to the community led by celebrities, community activists, professors and notable figures in the world of film. Each year, SFWFF receives approximately 1,500 film submissions from all over the world, of which sixty of the most distinguished independent films and videos are selected and celebrated. These films will cover a cross-section of genres from Animation for Children, Documentary and Activism, Lesbian and Gay Cinema, and Films by youth.
