Mission Statement

The City of Dana Point's Nature Interpretive Center (NIC) is an educational, management, and operational facility that provides information about the biology, geology, archeology, and history of the Dana Point Headlands. We share our acquired knowledge with visitors in an informal setting with the hope that they in turn become stewards of their local environment.

In general, volunteer docents assist the Natural Resources Protection Officer and staff to:

Educate visitors about the Dana Point Headlands;

Assist visitors in finding their way around the trails-system;

Monitor biological open-space trails;

Educate visitors about trail use and environmental conservation;

and assist with educational programs as needed.
