First Book is a nonprofit organization with a simple mission: to give children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books. Since 1992, First Book has provided more than 80 million new books to children in need in hundreds of communities nationwide - but we need your help to effectively reach children right here in Palm Beach County!

Established in May 2012, Fir st Book-South Florida is one of First Book’s community-based volunteer Advisory Boards, we are responsible for implementing activity at the local level. Advisory Board members apply their collective community knowledge and experience to identify and award grants of new books to local literacy programs serving at-risk children, at no cost to the program.
