Mission Statement

SouthernCare provides outstanding, compassionate end-of-life care for patients and their families and caregivers. Every one of our patients and families receives a program of individualized services from a Care Team comprised of dedicated professionals and trained volunteers. We emphasize care of the whole person, providing medical, spiritual and emotional support to all medically appropriate persons, without discrimination. Care is delivered in the patient's residence, whether it is their private home or a care facility. SouthernCare is dedicated to enhancing the care of all in the community by education and ensuring quality of life until life ends.

Description

We offer a variety of volunteer options to anyone with a heart for giving a little to make a huge difference in the lives of those dealing with end-of-life issues. Our patients are terminally ill, but most have many weeks or even months of good-quality of life left to them. Our volunteers might visit patients, providing company and companionship and allowing caregivers a much-needed break. Other volunteers help in care facilities with special events and activities. Some make or collect needed items such as blankets or toiletries. We encourage our volunteers to choose to do what they enjoy, at times that are convenient for them. There is no minimum time commitment, and training of course is provided. We hope you will come and join us, or contact us for more information.
