Mission Statement

Pine Island FISH (Fellow Islanders Sending Help) is a nonprofit, nonprofessional association of volunteers, organized for the purpose of making available and rendering the fullest possible range of neighborly, caring, unpaid and nonprofessional assistance to those who request help. The area of operation is limited to Greater Pine island, Matlacha and Matlacha Isles.

Description

The types of assistance offered include but are not limited to: non-emergency transportation for appointments with a doctor, essential shopping or banking; home visitation to the lonely, ill or otherwise housebound; telephone reassurance contacts with the elderly; providing respite for unpaid caregivers; loan of mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, potty chairs, shower stools; emergency financial assistance for essential needs or services such as rent, utilities, doctor bill or medications. FISH makes no charge at any time for its services. All trasportation costs are borne by the FISH volunteer.

FISH also directs the P.I. Basket Brigade. The Brigade may provide gifts, food and/or merchandise certificates for those in need at Thanksgiving, Christmas and clothing and/or merchandise certificates for Back-to-School Program.
