Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.

We are a non profit (501c3) dog rescue organization based in Homestead. Our goal is to provide food, shelter, vet care and love to abandoned dogs. Our Mission is to provide shelter for homeless dogs, rehabilitate them, provide vet care and find them new homes. Soon we will be able to provide other services.
In 2005, a 73 year old woman named Adela Luis started a non-profit organization called K9 For Love Rescue. She started by taking in owner surrenders and rescuing dogs from MDAS but soon after, the situation in the Homestead/Redlands area got out of hand when people started dumping their dogs. We currently have over 70 dogs in our care. Our goal is to find forever homes to the ones already rescued ... so we can keep rescuing more dog in Miami-Dade County, specially in the South Miami, Redlands and Homestead area. Most of these dogs have been in their kennels ranging from a few months to a couple of years!. It is not often they get to leave...They need to leave this place soon! The following articles have been published by the media regarding our activities and the situation with homeless and abandoned dogs in Homestead: http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/04/07/2736906/pack-of-dog-lovers-meets-pack.html We are supported by a wonderful network of volunteers but we always need more help with bathing and providing appropriate socialization to the dogs, transporting them to and from events, meeting potential adopters, etc. Our dogs can be found thru Adopt a Pet and Petfinder too! http://www.AdoptaPet.com/shelter77239-pets.html If you live in the South Florida area and would like to volunteer, please e-mail us at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org We cannot do this alone!! We need help with adoption events, medications for the dogs, funds for vet care, help with rescuing abandoned dogs and more. All our dogs receive appropriate vet care, vaccines, spay/neuter treatment and they are fully vetted by the time they are finally adopted.
