Mission Statement

AVANCE’s mission is to unlock America’s potential by strengthening families in at-risk communities through effective parent education and support programs.

Description

Derived from the Spanish word meaning "to advance," AVANCE is a national nonprofit dedicated to providing innovative education and family support services to at-risk, impoverished families since 1973.

Using a renowned dual-generation model, AVANCE fosters parenting knowledge and skills that directly impact children’s development, while also empowering parents to achieve their own educational and professional goals.

Specifically dedicated to serving marginalized communities, AVANCE strives to empower families to break the cycle of poverty through a proven dual-generation approach combining early childhood development and parenting education.

AVANCE works to increase the educational and developmental outcomes of children, ensuring they are equipped with the tools necessary for long-term academic and personal success.

Simultaneously, parents develop as active and engaged role models and form their own social support network, which transcends the weekly AVANCE class and impacts their daily lives. The organization aspires to increase the educational attainment of parents, which then leads to financial independence and personal growth, a hallmark of the AVANCE model. The ripple effect that begins with the individual ultimately increases a community's economic vitality.
