AWASA's mission is to bring together all of Southern Arizona's animal welfare organizations and interested individuals for mutual support and to work together to bring about an end to companion animal overpopulation through a broad and expanded network of spay/neuter clinics; education and outreach efforts; and shelter, foster placement and adoption programs with a common goal of maximizing placements and minimizing euthanasia of adoptable companion animals.
Our vision is to strengthen Southern Arizona’s network of animal welfare groups and interested individuals and present a unified voice to local, state, and national organizations who may, in turn, lend support to the region’s animal welfare community.
Our purpose is to unite animal welfare organizations and interested individuals in Southern Arizona around common goals while respecting, encouraging, and supporting the unique role each organization or individual has within the community.
Our organization administers the PetFix program for Pima County and provides a free vaccination program twice a year in a targeted area. In addition we present educational seminars for the general public. The board consists of animal lovers both rescuers and business individuals who are interested in bettering the situation for animals in Southern Arizona.
