Mission Statement

Empower people with special needs to achieve their full potential through innovative, inclusive programs and community partnerships. Our volunteers are essential partners and help make a real difference in the depth and breadth of our programs and services. By sharing their time, talents, and energy, volunteers make a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of our participants and in our community. Whether it’s interacting directly with our students with special needs or working behind the scenes, Gatepath volunteers take part in a rich, rewarding--and fun--experience that benefits adults, youth, and children with learning differences and developmental disabilities.

Description

For nearly a century, AbilityPath (formerly Gatepath and Abilities United) has been "Turning Disabilities Into Possibilities". As one of the premier nonprofits in Silicon Valley, we provide inclusive programs for people with special needs at all stages and ages. These programs enable Gatepath to create opportunities of greater independence for children, youth, and adults with special needs and disabilities, empowering both individuals and families through diverse, individualized education and support services. Our dedicated staff encourages physical, developmental, and social well-being at all levels, including early intervention and therapy for children, inclusive preschools, support services for families, social communication programs for youth, vocational training for adults, and employment placement.

Absolutely amazing organization to volunteer with! Such sweet, good-hearted people who truly love what they do. The services they offer really help kids and adults alike. I helped them with a promotional video for an event and it was an awesome experience!

This organization is doing a great job. It not only serves the people but also encourages people to serve the country as volunteers.
