Mission Statement

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

Description

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is an all-night event that Celebrates Cancer Survivors, Remembers those that have been lost to cancer, and offers hope that one day we will never have to face the fears of cancer. Families, friends, and community members camp out overnight at Long Reach High School and take turns walking the track throughout the night. Why is this an all-night event? -Because cancer never sleeps, and neither should our fight against it. When the sun goes down, hundreds of Luminaria light the way under the stars to remember those lost to cancer, those fighting cancer, and those who have fought cancer and won. Relay brings people together from all walks of life with the common goal of eliminating cancer.
