Mission Statement

Founded in 1988, the AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania is a nonprofit, public-interest law firm providing free legal assistance to people with HIV/AIDS and those affected by the epidemic. We are still the nation’s only independent public-interest law firm dedicated to AIDS and HIV. We educate the public about AIDS-related legal issues, train case management professionals to become better advocates for their HIV-positive clients, and work at local, state and national levels to achieve fair laws & policies.

Description

We serve the entire Commonwealth from our home base in Philadelphia and are committed to breaking the physical and linguistic barriers that often impede access to legal services. We make home and hospital visits to clients too ill to travel to our offices. Our bilingual staff serve our clients in the language they feel most comfortable speaking.

For more than two decades, the AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania has been fighting for the rights of Pennsylvanians living with HIV/AIDS. Please contact us if you would like more information or are in need of our services. We provide legal assistance with the following issues:

  • HIV/AIDS discrimination
  • Confidentiality of HIV-Related Information
  • HIV Testing Protocols
  • Public/Private Benefits
  • Housing
  • Wills, living wills, & powers of attorney
  • Financial/Consumer Debt
  • Immigration

Our Special Programs include:

  • Criminal Records Resolution
  • Drexel Law Field Clinic
  • Standby Guardianship
  • Medical/Legal Partnership
  • HIV Policy Collaborative of Pennsylvania
  • Compassionate Release
