Mission Statement

From John W. Hickenlooper's inagural address:

"There’s a Yiddish word, 'landsman’ which, roughly translated means 'a fellow villager’ - a stranger, perhaps, but still someone you welcome because you know they share a common connection in the village of your ancestors."

"I think we can learn from this Yiddish expression and the warmth it evokes."

"This value doesn’t spring from government. But it can teach all of us to govern together. I feel that every Coloradan is a member of our administration."

The Office of the Governor embraces diversity and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, national or ethnic origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, or physical ability. The Office of the Governor and the State of Colorado are equal opportunity employers.

Description

The Governor's Citizen Volunteer Program is designed to give high-quality applicants the opportunity to see the inner workings of state government and contribute to growing and improving the State of Colorado. We urge all eligible candidates to get into contact with our office, as long as you have an interest in serving your community, have strong reading and writing skills, have at least one hour a week to dedicate to volunteering, and are willing to fill out an application.
