Auction/Raffle Acquisitions Focuses on acquiring items, experiences, gift certificates, packages, etc. for the Chapter’s various fundraising events. You will reach out to businesses in your community to ask for in-kind donations from businesses. Their donations of product/services/etc. are tax-deductible and will be used to raise funds for HDSA programs and services. It is a great opportunity for businesses to be seen as philanthropic in their community. Materials will be provided.

Corporate Sponsorship Member The HDSA San Diego Chapter is looking for a talented corporate sponsorship lead. We are looking for a motivated volunteer to fundraise via corporate sponsorships. This position will initiate, nurture, and deliver sponsorship relationships for the Chapter. Responsibilities include: Identify and build relationships with potential donors Contact corporate representatives Develop strategies to encourage new or increased contributions Secure commitments of participation or donations from individuals or corporate donors Update donor databases Working with event chairs to develop a sponsorship plan Help to recruit and train sponsorship subcommittee Requirements Strong and professional communication skills -- written, verbal, presentation Promotes a strong sense of urgency for reaching goals and key deliverables Able to work independently Ability to bring new ideas to the team Well-connected in the corporate community and willing to ask others to support the cause Comfortable asking for large monetary contributions. Help for Today, Hope for Tomorrow The Chapter Board of Directors is the governing body of the Chapter responsible for ensuring that all Chapter activities are conducted in accordance with the HDSA Strategic Plan, Chapter Agreement, Plan of Work, and HDSA policies and procedures. The Chapter Board is led by an Executive Committee consisting of the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. All members will serve on at least one committee (Team Hope Walk, Fundraising, Advocacy, Etc...) Board members ensure the financial health of the chapter and identify the best community resources for their area. Generally the term of service is two years, with the ability to be re-elected two times for a total of 6 years of service. What are some of the Specific Responsibilities? Attend and participate in board meetings and/or calls. Serve on at least one committee: fundraising, advocacy, team hope, volunteer development, community services, & communications. All board members participate in chapter fundraising events, including helping to secure corporate support, attendance, event day help, and encouraging event registration. Recruit and engage new board members, committee members, and volunteers. Be an HDSA ambassador in the community. Participate in regional calls and share call updates with chapter committee members. Communicate and partner with the national HDSA staff. Participate in planning for the health and longevity of the chapter. What is the Time Commitment? While this can change depending on the time of the year, most of our board members commit 2-5 hours per week to HDSA activities. In addition to the meetings and events below, board members spend time reaching out to potential partners, thanking sponsors, talking with each other, and working on outreach. Board Meetings: 4-6 meetings per year, 60-90 minutes each Event Attendance: 3-4 events per year, 2-4 hours each Committee Meetings: 4-6 meetings per year, 60-90 minutes each

Team Hope Planning Committee The HDSA San Diego Team Hope Walk has raised over $750,000 over the last 15 years. We're looking for energetic people to help with planning for this year’s event! Expectations and roles include: Identify and engage corporate sponsors and in-kind donors. Recruiting and welcome new participants. Recruit/prepare event day volunteers. Work with HDSA communications staff on event promotions and media opportunities. Run the event on event day. Partner with HDSA Regional Development Officers. Specific tasks directly related to the type of event vary. What is the Time Commitment? In the months leading up to the event, there will be more time spent on meetings and activities. Event Attendance: 2-6 hours Committee Meetings: 4-6 meetings total, 60-90 minutes each Tasks (Sponsor Asks, Recruitment Calls, etc...) as needed (1-3 hours per week). The Team Hope Walk program is HDSA’s signature grassroots fundraising campaign designed to provide hope and support for those touched by this devastating disease. All proceeds support HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by HD and their families. Since their inception in 2007, Team Hope Walks have occurred in over 100 different cities and have raised more $18 million for the cause.
