Mission Statement

The Sheilah A. Doyle Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides support and assistance to children ages 7-17 whose parent, legal guardian, or sibling fell victim to homicide. Through our bereavement camp and our college scholarship program, we believe that we can transform a child’s tragedy into a bright future.

Description

The Sheilah A. Doyle Foundation invites you to take part in a special journey for youth ages 7 to 17. The truth is that a child takes grief from homicide with them the rest of their life. Their loss is not something they ever "get over." Volunteers empower young people with the navigation tools for their incredible adventure. Whatever role you choose, here are your awesome responsibilities.

First and foremost, our camp is LOADS OF FUN! Who doesn’t like spending an entire weekend sleeping on bunk beds in the middle of the woods, making s’mores (or going straight for the chocolate!), climbing rock walls, zipping down zip lines, sitting by a bonfire and going to a BBQ? The friends you make at Camp Sheilah are special too. They understand one other. Our campers are called "Jr. Explorers." Because the common journey that brings us all together is the fact that we have lost someone we loved.
