We need superstar volunteers who have ample horse experience to assist our Equine Specialist with basic barn chores. If you enjoy taking care of horses, we invite you to come and help care for a very special small herd of horses (and 3 donkeys) who change and save lives for a living. Duties include: Taking GREAT care of the herd of 4 legged therapists who save lives and help trauma survivors heal. This includes washing water buckets, maintaining outside water sources, filling hay nets, sweeping, and cleaning of the stalls daily. Cleaning up manure/hay from dry lot, indoor/outdoor arenas, and smaller paddocks close to the barn. The herd includes 3 horses, 3 donkeys. 6 stalls on shavings. Barn volunteers are taught the patterns, the tools and the specific chores needed in the SRoL barn. All barn volunteers on a trial run in the beginning to determine fit. Once committed we ask for one (1) shift per week. Fall and Winter Shifts are Midday or Afternoon (November through April): Autumn and Winter Barn Shifts are either midday (12 to 3pm) or afternoon/evening (3 to 6pm) as the horses are outside during the daytime and the barn/stalls get cleaned then. There are also outside chores to maintain water and hay supply, as well as clean up manure in the smaller paddocks close to the barn. In the afternoon shift there is time to bring in the horses for daily check, grooming, and dinner. There is availability for midday shifts for 1 person weekdays. There is availability for afternoon shifts on M-Tu-Th during the week. VOLUNTEER SERVICE HOURS COUNT: SRoL will verify/validate service hours for those who come here and give their heart and hard work to the herd that heals. This counts for NHS, Boy/Girl Scouts, School Service Hours, Church Groups, and more. Because of the AMAZING work these horses do and the miracles they set forth, we are picky about their care. If you are detail-oriented, this will be a fit. :) See our 4-legged trainers in action at https://www.linktr,ee.com/njvh_sroh We hope to see you at the farm!

In return we will offer an opportunity to learn horse keeping skills, a zen way of being with horses, and the accomplishment that you are a part of the service we provide to others in that these animals are our esteemed colleagues and we honor that. For the 2023 Season we are searching to fill the following evening shifts with space for (#) of volunteers: Sundays (2), Tuesdays (2), Wednesdays (1), Thursdays (1). Spring Reins of Life and the horses here are in search of a Handyperson! (man or woman) We are ISO for some maintenance and light repairs for the barn, equipment, and items needed for horse care. The Herd is located in Three Bridges (just 4miles from Flemington). It would make a WORLD of difference for us if there could be a helper who has basic skills in fixing glitches like sticky doors, equipment wheel maintenance, and mainly creative ways to accomplish light repairs (like a door knob that keeps falling off?!). The fixer helper we seek could be available once or twice a month to keep us moving along in our mission and horse care. If you have a bit of knowledge and know-how for light repairs, carpentry, metals, windows/ doors, fencing, pavers, faucets that leak, etc. We would love to know you. SRoL has acquired some eclectic tools over the years, yet it would be most efficient if our recruited handy helper has a more in-depth source to choose from to efficiently fix or modify the things that we need fixing... Please inquire with us if any interest. The list is small, yet impeding our efficiency and progress - so would be such a help to be able to upgrade how chores can be done better and faster. Thank you!
