The Alpha-1 Foundation is dedicated to providing the leadership and resources that will result in increased research, improved health, worldwide detection, and a cure for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency.

Description

The Alpha-1 Foundation provides patients and medical professionals with information and educational events about Alpha-1 and raises money to support its various research grants in pursuit of a cure for Alpha-1. Alpha-1, a genetic disease that causes lung disease and liver disease in both adults and children, is largely undiagnosed. Alpha-1 is the most common genetic risk factor for emphysema.
