Mission Statement

Our mission is to raise awareness of diaper need and build the capacity of diaper banks. Through our guidance and support, we can help bring together a community of partners that can provide diapers to those in need and close the diaper gap in America. NDBN will accomplish this goal via three primary activities:

Raising awareness: Bring national attention to the issue of diaper need through reaching out to the general public, policy makers and community leaders.

Providing education and technical assistance: Assist local communities to start diaper banks and help build the capacity of existing diaper banks.

Distributing diapers and funding: Distribute diapers to a network of regional diaper banks, thus providing more diapers to children in need.

Description

Diapers are a basic need for children in the United States, as essential to their health and well-being as food, shelter and love. Yet many families struggle to afford diapers, and few resources exist to help them. Unlike other necessities such as food and heat, diapers are not recognized as a basic need by the federal government, and so no provision is made to help families acquire diapers. Federal anti-poverty programs such as food stamps do not cover diapers, leaving poor families without the means to properly diaper their children.

The National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN) is dedicated to providing every child in the United States with the supply of diapers needed to remain clean, dry and healthy. Our vision is to help America become a place where every family has access to the diapers they need for their child.
