Mission Statement

The NextGen Advisory Council of New York Blood Center is a diverse group of emerging leaders committed to supporting NYBC’s mission by tapping into the perspectives and expertise of the next generation. We strive to implement innovative solutions to help raise public awareness of NYBC's lifesaving efforts, optimize its internal operations, and engage new generations of donors of all types. The NextGen Council endeavors to ensure that NYBC remains an industry and community leader in the quickly changing years to come.

Description

New York Blood Center is seeking emerging leaders in a variety of fields to serve as volunteer members of its NYBC NextGen Advisory Council, which will provide new direction to one of NYC’s largest nonprofit organizations and a critical link in the nation’s healthcare system.

Charter members will have a stellar opportunity to use their expertise to shape the healthcare industry in New York City and beyond.

Initial Goals
•Retelling the story of NYBC in a new voice to new audiences.
•Aligning NYBC’s social media policy and strategy for greatest community impact.
•Developing new marketing solutions for maximizing blood donations from our most needed blood donors.
•Finding efficient ways to make NYBC more "green" operationally.
•Envisioning what NYBC’s role will be in the post "healthcare reform" world.

In its initial year, the NYBC NextGen Advisory Council will meet 6 to 10 times in New York City, each meeting consisting of a meal and following two-hour discussion. There will also be follow-up discussions by email, phone, video chat, and/or online community groups, and the opportunity for further pro-bono involvement. Members are asked to commit to a 1-year term of volunteer service.
