Notre Dame Education Center is committed to providing quality education and support services in a diverse, caring community that empowers adult learners to realize their full potential. People from neighborhoods and cultures across Boston come to NDEC to initiate or continue their education. As part of their learning, students participate in the development of the Center as a place where community is fostered and diversity is respected and celebrated. The programs offered and the style of learning provides reflection on the individual and collective experience of the students and teachers.
Notre Dame Education Center is a community-based Adult Education Center founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1992. NDEC offers free classes funded by the Massachusetts Dept. of Education, the City of Boston, and through the generosity of foundations, corporations and individuals. Some classes have a nominal tuition. Programs include: Adult Basic Education, HiSet (high-school equivalency) preparation, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), workforce readiness classes and coaching, and citizenship classes.
