Vets HERD

Description

The hit ABC reality television show "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" transformed block after block of the City of Buffalo’s lower west side neighborhoods.

It also forged coalitions among Western New York individuals and organizations previously unknown to one another.

One such alliance materialized among a group of men and women who, during course of the project, realized they shared a common b ond of service to their nation.

In discussing their veteran’s experiences these new acquaintances also realized a greater purpose ---that of helping empower returning and disabled veterans. And so was born the non- profit organization, Vets HERD.

The founders of the group consist of men and women already influential in local veteran’s issues, along with community leaders looking to become involved.

In defining the organization, the founders determined HERD’s purpose as twofold -- to partner with all local veterans organizations to ensure that vets receive educational, financial, legal and medical support, and to administer individual events beneficial to specific veterans in need.

Since their inception in May 2010, VH officials have been actively reaching out to veterans groups throughout the region to establish effective partnerships. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All proceeds will benefit Vets H.E.R.D's cause.
