Mission Statement

Cedille Chicago is dedicated to producing classical recordings of the highest quality featuring outstanding musicians from Chicago. Our purpose is to enhance the world's catalog of recorded music by exploring new and under-representated compositions and documenting important interpretations of standard repertoire. The extensive dissemination of these recordings is designed to bring these artists to a worldwide audience, thus enhancing their reputations and careers, and to benefit as great a listening public as possible.

Description

Whereas a concert's duration is finite, Cedille’s recordings are preserved for posterity. No recording is ever deleted from our catalog, so one can enjoy the fully-produced performance years after the recording was made. Cedille’s projects serve the world’s classical music audience and local artists.

No other organization -- either for-profit or non-profit -- is dedicated to recording Chicago-area classical musicians and ensembles. It is vital that world-class artists from Chicago have their work recorded and distributed so that they can reach and enhance the lives of the world-wide classical music audience.

Cedille works with a whole host of Chicago artists. When you volunteer for Cedille you're really supporting many different organizations and artists like the Chicago Sinfonietta, Baroque Band, Rachel Barton Pine, Jennifer Koh, Wendy Warner, Jorge Federico Osorio... I could go on for hours! They have a small (but friendly) administrative operation and need all the help they can get!
