Our mission is to:

Make music a participatory experience, creating a dynamic collaborationamong the bold and the shy, the untrained and the trained, the audience and the performers, challenging all of us to be truly amazing.

Promote singing as an act of compassion, believing that when we create harmony we make the world a more beautiful place and, in so doing, become
a healing voice for our communities and ourselves.

Explore through song the musically rich and diverse cultures that aboundin the world, celebrating the very best in all of us.

We welcome all who love to sing.

Mystic Chorale History

The Mystic Chorale is a non-profit, volunteer-run community chorus based in Arlington Massachusetts

Artistic Director, Nick Page Nick founded the Mystic Chorale in 1990 to provide singers with a greater challenge.

From the beginning, Nick chose repertoire from both written and oral traditions, music that often brought the audience into the equation. Nick combined his choral training, enthusiasm for sing-along concerts, and interest in the musical traditions of many cultures to create an organization that celebrates singing as a means of building community. And it’s quite a community that has evolved over 20 years with more than 500 people singing in any given year and an extended community that includes over 2,000 singers.

From the beginning, Mystic concerts have been participatory events with concert/sings on Celtic, Jewish, Latin American, South African, Eastern European and other themes. The Chorale has collaborated with musical leaders including Ysaye Maria Barnwell of Sweet Honey in the Rock, Larry Gordon of Vermont’s Village Harmony, Jane Sapp, and Mollie Stone, an expert on the new AIDS/HIV music of South Africa. Each year the Chorale has also presented a Gospel concert with leaders Jonathan Singleton, Linda Brown-San Martin, Phillip Woods and Geoffrey Dana Hicks.

The Mystic Touring Ensemble travels to places near and far, collaborating with choirs in Germany (July 2002), Quebec City (July 2003), Costa Rica (July 2004), Ireland (July 2006) and New York City (July 2007).

The Mystic Chorale is a member of The Greater Boston Choral Consortium, a cooperative association of diverse choral groups in Boston and surrounding areas.
