Mission Statement

The official mission statement of SOLAR YOUTH, INC. was written as part of our 2001 Strategic Planning process, involving staff, Board members and youth. The mission of Solar Youth is to provide opportunities for young people to develop a positive sense of self and connection and commitment to others through programs that incorporate environmental exploration, leadership and community service.

Description

SOLAR YOUTH, INC. is a non-profit environmental education and youth development organization founded in the fall of 2000 based on work piloted by its founders - Joanne Sciulli, Heather Gilbert and a group of New Haven's youth. Our programs incorporate: Positive Youth Development, Environmental Education, Adventure Education, Community Service Learning, and Leadership Development
