Mission Statement

D.C. Preparatory Academy has a straightforward mission. The school strives to provide middle school children in Washington, DC with an outstanding education that emphasizes rigorous academics as well as character and leadership development. D.C. Prepâ  s leaders have high expectations for their students. They anticipate that students will graduate at, or above, grade level, and enroll in top public and independent high schools in the area. D.C. Prep is ensuring that its students â  even those who enter the school far below grade level â  accomplish this ambitious goal through a rigorous curriculum and a thoughtfully developed character and leadership program.

Description

Now in its third year, D.C. Prep has 200 students -- 50 4th graders, 50 5th graders, and 50 6th graders and 50 7th graders. Next year the school will add an additional 50 students until it reaches its mature size of 250 students in grades 4-8. The school is organized into two divisions, or Academies, the Junior Academy (grades 4-5) and the Senior Academy (grades 6-8). D.C. Prep is located at 701 Edgewood Street, NE, in a beautifully renovated 34,000 square foot building.
