Mission Statement

Daya promotes healthy family relationships in the South-Asian community by providing services that include counselling, referrals, legal advocacy, and fianancial support to women and children affected by family violence and sexual assault. Daya also promotes awarenss to these issues through educational seminars, publications and outreach events.

Description

Daya was started in 1996 with 24 hour helpline to aid local clients from the Houston metropolitan area.It is a nonprofit organisation funded by grants and community support. Today, in addition to referral, counselling and providing fianancial aid Daya also runs a temporary shelter for clients on a need assesed basis. Daya has a dedicated board of directors, professional staff, and an active group of volunteers who help clients to be self supportive while dealing with legal, immigration and family issues by providing services in various fields such as legal, medical, and fianancial.
