Mission Statement
GrassrootsHealth is a public health activist organization committed to moving vitamin D research into practice. GrassrootsHealth created the vitamin D*action project, which is a consortium of scientists, institutions and individuals committed to solving the worldwide vitamin D deficiency epidemic through education, testing and feedback to inform both individuals and policy makers.
Description
The D*action project of GrassrootsHealth was created in 2009 to enroll people in a 'prevention’ project. At this point in time, there are over 8000 participants internationally (online) in the project of testing, education and vitamin D intake adjustment to meet the serum targets. GrassrootsHealth provides seminars for healthcare professionals as well as the general public; maintains an extensive vitamin D website (www.grassrootshealth.net) and provides ongoing vitamin D testing programs. The first scientific paper from this population study was published February, 2011 in the Anticancer Journal by Dr. Cedric Garland and Dr. Robert P. Heaney.
