Mission Statement

The Arts Council of Oklahoma City's mission is to bring the arts and the community together through the coordination of events, resources and services

Description

The Arts Council supports the beliefs that arts define and are vital for a healthy community; service is the cornerstone for all our activities and programs; arts unite and celebrate the diversity of our community; arts education is a lifelong process; volunteers are the lifeblood and soul of the organization; and collaboration and partnerships are essential elements of the Arts Council.

To support our beliefs in the arts, the Arts Council produces
  • The Festival of the Arts, an annual six-day community celebration of the visual, performing and culinary arts during the last week of April
  • Opening Night, a family-oriented New Year's Eve Performing Arts event featuring over 30 performing groups in venues in Downtown Oklahoma City
  • WinterTales Storytelling Festival educates the community to the time-honored tradition of storytelling and features nationally-known tellers in performances and workshops
  • Summer Twilight Concerts provide free, weekly outdoor concerts in a family picnic atmosphere
  • Stage Center Theatre facility provides meeting, office, rehearsal and performance space for local visual and performing arts companies and national touring productions.
  • Community Arts Programs include arts projects, primarily for under-served children, which are developed in collaboration with community partners who share our belief that access to quality arts programming can make a difference in a child's development.
