The mission of Smith Plantation is to conserve and communicate the multigenerational history of the site and its residents through the preservation, interpretation, and promotion of the property and collections.

Description

The Smith Plantation in the heart of historic downtown Roswell, Georgia, was built in 1845 by Archibald and Anne Smith, who came from the Georgia coast with 31 slaves in 1838. The original farm house and 10 outbuildings were once part of a 300 acre cotton farm that supplied cotton for the mills in Roswell. The house contains original furnishings, clothing and other family possessions. The property has survived in tact since 1843, weathering the civil war, reconstruction, and the great depression.
