Lawyers for Children America

Description

Lawyers for Children America (LFCA) trains and supports pro bono attorney guardians ad litem for children in the abuse and neglect system. Volunteer attorneys advocate for children and adolescents, many of whom are placed in the foster care system. When a volunteer takes a child's case through LFCA, the volunteer visits the child regularly, advocates for the child's best interests in court, and ensures that the child is getting the services that s/he need. LFCA provides volunteers with an initial multidisciplinary training, which lasts two mornings. LFCA then provides each volunteer with ongoing support, including materials and regular one-on-one consultations, throughout the life of his/her case.
