Hometown Heroes of Michigan

Description

Every year, Hometown Heroes of Michigan helps hundreds of Michigan residents with disease or injury while living at home. Our mission is "To provide every individual in need with the appropriate medical equipment and supplies at no or low cost, so that they may lead a healthy and independent lifestyle". The help we provide gives residents a chance to live more independently with pride and dignity. We operate by taking in donations of medical equipment and supplies from all over (medical institutions, hospitals, and personal donations). For example, maybe some residents have equipment in a storage unit or garage that many do not know what to do with. They just hold onto it and it collects dust or is discarded. Our organization takes these pieces of equipment and provides donation receipts for the donors. We then sanitize, fix, restore the items and distribute them to those in need who are not able to afford these items. Our clients are able to come here to our location and pick up the needed equipment and supplies. Some residents need medical equipment and supplies they cant afford, while others have equipment and supplies they no longer need. We have volunteered time and resources to create a collection and distribution point for these items. We also reduce re-admission rates to hospitals and save insurance companies money. Before the organization was established so many valuable goods were going into the landfills that could be recycled and used to provide for someone in need. We have adopted green methods in our operations to promote earth friendly practices through education and recycling.
