Mission Statement

The United Way of Virginia's Eastern Shore is a local volunteer organization established in 1991 by business people and community leaders who recognized the need to have a local organization that would be dedicated to helping the people of Virginia's Eastern Shore including Accomack and Northampton Counties by organizing and helping to raise financial support from local businesses and individuals for a variety of local charities.

Description

The United Way of Virginia's Eastern Shore has an all volunteer Board of Directors and one part-time paid employee. The Campaign Fundraising Committee raises funds from the local businesses through employee campaigns and also solicits corporate and individual donations. The Allocation Committee, through an intense application and interview process, allocates the undesignated funds to local applying agencies. All work together to keep expenses very low and to assist those in need on Virginia's Eastern Shore.
