To engage local citizens within key nonprofit organizations to help eliminating poverty in our community by first helping children reach school healthy, developmentally ready to learn and better prepared to succeed in life.

Description

The Orange County First 5 Service Corps program is a project of the Children and Families Commission of Orange County that is administered through CONNECT, a project of Orangewood Children's Foundation. First 5 provides both AmeriCorps (direct service) and VISTA (indirect service) opportunities. Each position supports the project's overall goal of eliminating poverty in our community by first helping children reach school healthy, developmentally ready to learn and better prepared to succeed in life. Members are placed within one of our 28 nonprofit partnering agencies that include United Way Orange County, Boys & Girls Clubs, Info Link Orange County, Health Care Agency, and local Family Resource Centers just to name a few.
